Dewormer

Our puppies and mother receive four doses of dewormer before leaving for their new family. We give the doses at 3, 5, 6, and 7 weeks of age.

We use the dewormer Pyrantel Pamoate from our veterinarian. It's a liquid that is mixed with Puppy Milk Replacer at our veterinarian. It's administered with a syringe, without the needle, on the tongue of the puppy. They like the taste of the puppy milk replacer and it's never a problem getting them to take the dose. It's a small dosage of around half a milliliter. For reference, one teaspoon is approximately 5 milliliters.

Our medicine does not come from a pet store or an animal co-op.

The puppy comes with health records that indicate the four doses of dewormer. They also receive two full veterinarian exams, age appropriate shots, and tested for worms before leaving for a new home. The first exam is at 3-weeks old and the second at 8-weeks old. The full veterinarian exam includes checking their heart, lungs, eyes, ears, nose, throat, joints, palette, abdomen, etc.

Most of our puppies have been adopted by families who came to our house and toured our kennel. They saw the parents, puppies and how well we care for our Cavaliers. I think that speaks volumes for how much care and time we spend to make sure our puppies are healthy, happy and loved.
